The Historical Snow in Our State

Wednesday, January 29, 2025
Third week of January 2025, our city, Baton Rouge, Louisiana got snow after 7 years. The last snow was in 2018.

This is a historical snow, and some people called it "a miracle" for warmer area like our state, a southern state.

Some interesting facts for southerners like us are:
- snow reached 9 inches (23 cm)
- snow last for several days.
- freezing temperatures at 10.4 F (minus, -12 C)
- many kids and pets see snow fall for first time.
- some neighbors have enjoyed time

This kind of snow and freezing temperatures had been recorded in 1895. Quite very long time ago.

  4. Oh, I hope that canopy of trees will be OK. Remarkable snow fall. Here in the midlands we have not had any snow. And we really need it. Great winter shots! Still, it has been very cold here. Just this week we have had some more spring like weather. It is a shock to the system, no doubt.

  6. the Winter sky and the snow are both Beautiful...this is quiet a bit of snow and I know the kiddos loved having it. No snow here is East Texas....lots of rain today.

  13. Wow 10 degrees that is mind blowing. I bet it was exciting to get snow there. It looks beautiful. Funny to see it on trees with leaves. I hope the foliage and crops were ok...

  17. I was amazed at the amount of snow y'all got. The frantic knees-bent scurrying about in Virginia Beach was bad enough, but I can't imagine what it was like in Louisiana!
