The Local Honey in the Farmer Market – Part 1 – Food Variety 17

 We just visit farmer market, there were plenty of local honey on the shelves. I don’t know when they harvest this “healthy food.”

However, as a southern state, temperature getting warmer currently, could get above 20* C at mid-day.

As esxpected, a hot season is busy time for bees for secretion sweeter substances from flower then to produce honey.

At least there are four region as well known areas of honey bee production in Louisiana:

- Baton Rouge

- Northern Louisiana’s

- New Orleans and nearby areas

- Southwestern Louisiana

We might know that honey is healthy foods due to its contain combinations of mineral, vitamins, enzymes and anti-oxidants.

Surprising facts for me that there are 4 different terms of honey sold in the farmer market:

- processed

- natural

- pure

- raw

Sex ratio of turtle when eggs put in incubator with varies temperatures are following:

- at C 28.5 (F 83.3) degree will produce equally males and females broods.

- above C 30 (F 86) degree produces all females hatchlings

- below C 25 (F 77) degrees produce all males turtle babies.

Then, why temperature become warmer in the sand of the Great Barrier Reef beaches?

Many scientists have concluded that “climates changes” which relate to increasing of temperature responsible to more females in Great Barrier Reef turtle broods.

In short term, in order to get equal or natural sex ratio of marine turtles, then scientists design:

- lower nest temperatures

- optimal nest temperatures

The resutls are promising. Moreover, hope, world could handle the climate changes in near future.

Talented Students to Display Their Paintings – Part 2 - Art 4

The first, second and third paintings portrait daily live such as drink a cup of ginseng, have a pet and dancing.

Moreover, these talented students are identified through talented art program by East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

Art programs include:

- visual arts
- music
- theater

In term the number of schools in East Baton Rouge Parish School System are following:

- Primary schools, 54
- Middle schools, 16
- High schools, 18

These public schools get funding from several resources:

- local, state and federal governments
- some portion from private resources

Hope, this talented program could produce excellent works in arts, and promote great artists in the near future.

Special Parking for Low Emission Vehicles - Sign 3

I have known the special signs stand up in the city library parking lots very long time ago.

However, I don’t know the “exact” meaning of these two phrases:

- low emission

- fuel efficient

I searched through internet to get the meaning and what kind of cars refer to those phrases.

Low emission cars emit low carbon dioxide (CO2) compared to normal car. Electric and hybrid cars are included in this category.

Numerous green cars which are low emission emitter, few examples are:

- Toyota Corolla

- Tesla model 3

- Volvo XC40 T5 Recharge.

- BMW 3 Series 330e.

- Kia e-Niro.

Fuel efficient refers to fuel consumed per mile. Lower consumption means energy efficiency.

Some fuel-efficient cars include:

- Toyota Yaris 1.5 Hybrid

- Volkswagen Up 1.0 75

- Vauxhall Astra 1.6 CDTi 110 Ecoflex

- Renault Kadjar 1.5 dCi 110

By configuration file, we have several following advantages:

- web easily accessed

- shorter time to access

- built-in validation mechanisms for both the schema and the form

- and XML in the configuration becomes much more intelligible.

However, there is no the best way to implement cache strategy, so there is possibility to set up catching by mistake.

The wrong set up means browser not able to validate the cached content. Another possibility that page could load wrong content.

In case of hacking the caching server, all users will get negative impacts on their computers.

Several other disadvantages:

- more expensive

- data are stored temporarily

- store capacity not that much

- less proxy updating

- data may loss due to shutdown of computer

Why Turtles Produce almost All Female Hatchlings Recently? - Part 1

When I was walking with my dad in remote beaches in the tropical country along long time ago, we found turtle eggs in the beaches sometimes.

Off course eggs are hiding in the nests within the sands.

Number of sea turtle eggs could reach about 200 eggs at one time, but, the number depend very much on species.

As examples, number of eggs at one time from 3 different species:

- Flatback turtle, about 50 eggs

- Leatherback sea turtle, about 110 eggs

- Hawkbill turtle, about 200 eggs

After incubation of 60 days, we did not know the natural sex ratio of male and female turtle hatch-lings.

We just guessed equally the same with little bit higher for females as other animals on the earth.

It is stunning to know that scientists found new hatch-lings to have almost all females sex identity in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia.

Why?

Naturally, temperature decide sex ratio of turtles, higher temperature means female more.

On the contrary, lower temperature will cause plenty of males than females turtles.

Talented Students to Display Their Paintings – Part 1 - Art 4

I noticed there are no art gallery or show in public spaces during more than one year of Covid 19 pandemic.

The pandemic makes everybody almost “crazy.”

Recently, our city library showed paintings of talented students. These students come from:

- elementary

- middle school

- high school.

In this posting, I just focus on paintings by high school students, I may post paintings of elementary and middle school students by next times.

The chosen paintings from talented students are displayed on entrance wall of library.

Some paintings have price tags.

How much the price?

Many of them just about US$ 50. Few are couple hundred dollars.

In the last 5 years, we bought one painting only. Good painting from a high school student.

Then, Tiffany Pham’s painting is one of painting examples from a typical high school student at a recent art show.

She tried to describe the power of brain to create city, agriculture and art (music) through her painting.

Other paintings are quite representing of human beings. About their daily interest and activities.
