A Hummingbird in the Flight - Critter 68

 We have 3 migration seasons of Hummingbirds in our areas, they are Spring, Fall and Winter migrations.

If we have observed the Hummingbirds in Baton Rouge, Louisiana between middle of November to early March, then these Hummingbirds are considered as Winter migration of Hummingbirds.

There are several locations which well known for winter migration of this tiny birds. Some of them are:
- Baton Rouge
- Lafayette
- New Orleans

We recognize at least 5 (five) species of Hummingbirds as winter "special" visitors in our city, Baton Rouge, LA.

The winter Hummingbirds in our areas are:
- Black-chinned Hummingbirds
- Broad-tailed Hummingbirds
- Calliope Hummingbirds.
- Buff-bellied Hummingbirds.
- Rufous Hummingbirds.

We love to observe Rufous Hummingbirds since these tiny birds most frequently seen in this season.

  1. What wonderful birds hummers are - we dont have any in Australia (or the UK!) so my changes of seeing them rely on travel - and I always get very excited when I see them!

  4. We love our humming birds! The most common one we see here in PA is the Ruby-throated bird. We feed them up to the end of Sept. Looking forward to their return!!

  5. I love watching these little birds. I was reading about them last year and I did not realize that they come back to the same area every year. Last year we had about 4 that were constant.
