  3. Actually if we were to throw out less food, we would dissipate less energy (I am talking about the energy needed for processing and packaging).
That's really an interesting post! Great job!

    Post script:
I have seen the name "Mozzarella" in your picture above, which shows the cheese in Walmart. Mozzarella is produced using exclusively fresh whole buffalo milk, from breeding farms located in the certified area. According to the EU law, the name "Mozzarella" is Protected Designation of Origin. Consequently, Walmart can't sell that cheese with the name "Mozzarella". It's illegal!

    1. 1) I just copy from internet: "Mozzarella was first made in Italy near Naples from the rich milk of water buffalos. Because it was not made from pasteurized milk and because there was little or no refrigeration the cheese had a very short shelf-life and seldom left the southern region of Italy near Naples where it was made."

    2. 2) "Dairy farmers received good news when it comes to marketing their products. A crucial agreement has been reached that provides support for protection for the Mozzarella di Bufala Campana Protected Designation of Origin in the United States and around the world, while explicitly establishing the free use of the generic term “mozzarella” to indicate a type of cheese."

"The agreement, between the Consorzio Tutela Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, the U.S. Dairy Export Council and the Consortium for Common Food Names is of critical importance as it secures the use of common terms on U.S. cheese products, while recognizing the territory of production."

  4. There are so many variables to consider. We have had a lot of hold ups in the food chain as of late. As consumers we possibly buy more than we should there is a lot of waste at home. Also plenty of grocery stores are not investing in the best ways to keep the food with refrigerated units that are practically outdated. Unfortunately. They are cutting corners too.

  5. I'm afraid I'm not letting chocolate go to waste. And it's a good idea to know what to do with a block of cheese. Many just want the pizza anyway.
