State Rules to Prohibit Pets in Stores – Sign 14

Monday, June 27, 2022

I thought grocery owners' own policy to prohibit pets or animals to enter their stores in our city, Baton Rouge.

Yes, I noticed signs that dogs are not allowed to come into stores. The signs are attached at glass doors or glass windows of all grocery stores in the city, as I know or remember.

When I visited a farmer market couple days ago, I look carefully the sign, actually the restrictions come from state (state rule).

Then, I tried to find out through Google what is the meaning of the rules?

Restriction on pets to enter stores include in Title 3 (Agriculture and Forestry) and RS 3: 2511 (Restrictions on the retail sale of dogs and cats).

Actually, restriction is applied not only to dogs and cats, but also on following animals such as:

- birds

- ferrets

- rabbits

- reptiles and other live animals

How about in your areas or countries?

  5. Tonight, someone was telling me how dog friendly Seattle is. You can take them into stores and offices. At the library, we have Pawsitive reading. And cats and dogs are allowed in at that time. For the post part we only let in service animals. Yet, occasionally, someone might bring in a little dog in their handbag.

  6. I am seeing many places that used to be more pet friendly, aren't anymore. But I am not sure our state has anything to do with it. Possibly.

  7. Here I feel they are getting more strict with who can bring in their dog and they usually have to wear a uniform that they are a service dog now.

  11. I'm not sure what the state laws are here in SC. I have noticed a lot of dog friendly business, particularly eateries, so I am guessing there aren't any strict laws. We were in an antiques mall last weekend and someone had their dog with them (no service dog vest on).

  13. I don't shop in stores much any more but in the past I have seen some funny sights here in Florida. I saw a monkey in a thrift store once and a big parrot on a man's shoulder in Walmart! lol

  14. Hello,
The dog is a cutie, I hope it's home is nearby. I have seen only service dogs in stores, except for the bigger pet store allows animals. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend.
