Just two examples are statues of:

- Gudea in Neo-Sumerian culture

- and statue of Memi and Sabu

Gudea was a leader in a sovereign country but called as a governor. He dressed like a monk than a king.

Moreover, Memi and Sabu was ordinary people that found in the nonroyal cemeteries surrounding the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) at Giza, Egypt.

It is said that never giving up, even when we know its not really working, we need to go back at it, time and time again until we are happy (satisfy).

We need to read several articles, include Wikipedia (even though not reliable resource, but at least give some ideas) to understand history context such as statues of Gudea, and Memi and Sebu.

Finally, It is challenging to study art history without history background and art skill (especially to whom have no talent in art).

However, the difficulty could be overcome step by step with a fair amount of enthusiasm.

Art is a piece of work based on internal hopes, wishes, dreams and feelings with outside world.

Piece of work may be created on chosen medium.

Since, it has medium, thus work of art could be seen (with naked eye), “smell” by nose and even be touched by our hands.

In addition, art is work of beauty too, thus, we can feel and interpret that piece of work.

As an example, since a painting could be touched (its medium), then, we may feel and interpret its beauty.

How?

Interpretation could be far cross time limit (hundred years ago or “travel” to the future time, unlimited and unseen very far time ahead).

My weakness in study art history is difficulty to understand the meaning of piece of art in context of history.

I need to read over and over to understand history context of some pieces of art.

What are examples of art pieces which are required to be interpreted in history context?

Talented Students to Display Their Paintings – Part 2 - Art 4

The first, second and third paintings portrait daily live such as drink a cup of ginseng, have a pet and dancing.

Moreover, these talented students are identified through talented art program by East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

Art programs include:

- visual arts
- music
- theater

In term the number of schools in East Baton Rouge Parish School System are following:

- Primary schools, 54
- Middle schools, 16
- High schools, 18

These public schools get funding from several resources:

- local, state and federal governments
- some portion from private resources

Hope, this talented program could produce excellent works in arts, and promote great artists in the near future.

Talented Students to Display Their Paintings – Part 1 - Art 4

I noticed there are no art gallery or show in public spaces during more than one year of Covid 19 pandemic.

The pandemic makes everybody almost “crazy.”

Recently, our city library showed paintings of talented students. These students come from:

- elementary

- middle school

- high school.

In this posting, I just focus on paintings by high school students, I may post paintings of elementary and middle school students by next times.

The chosen paintings from talented students are displayed on entrance wall of library.

Some paintings have price tags.

How much the price?

Many of them just about US$ 50. Few are couple hundred dollars.

In the last 5 years, we bought one painting only. Good painting from a high school student.

Then, Tiffany Pham’s painting is one of painting examples from a typical high school student at a recent art show.

She tried to describe the power of brain to create city, agriculture and art (music) through her painting.

Other paintings are quite representing of human beings. About their daily interest and activities.

Zinnia Flower and Vincent Van Gogh – Part 2 - Art 3

What interesting for me is that Zinnia flower depicted by Van Gogh. In nature, Zinnia has 13 different species.

Several popular Zinnias to grow are:

- Purple Prince

- Queen Red Lime

- Aztec Sunset

- Red Spider

- Early Wonder

- Queen Lime

Zinnia flowers are native to American continent, spreading from USA to some part of Latin America.

The flowers are easily found in the countries or areas such as:

- Southwestern United States

- Mexico

- and Central America

This flower of Zinnia is quite popular around the globe now days, and to be gardens flowers.

Since Zinnia riches in nectar, the flowers attract many pollinators:

- butterflies

- hummingbirds

- ladybugs

- Japanese Beetles

- wasps

It might be the reason, Zinnia flowers to be a must plant in the gardens in many countries.

Zinnia Flower and Vincent Van Gogh – Part 1 - Art 3

The sunflower is one of well known flowers painted by a Dutch painter, Vincent Van Gogh.

The cost almost reached US$ 40 million in 1987 auction. It is estimated for about US$ 98 million today.

There are two series of Van Gogh’s sunflowers (Tournesols in French) :

- Paris series, 1887

- Arles series, 1888

Paris series was characterized by sunflower lying, while the Arles series was painting of sunflowers in the vase.

There are five well known paintings of sunflowers in the vase which are belong to museums around the globe now days.

Actually, the painter has other flowers as painting objects as reported by Teresa Bernard, 2015: The Flower Paintings of Vincent van Gogh).

What is a Fiber Painting or Fiber Art? - Art 2

I just saw from a distance that there is “paintings” exhibition in the library. When I approach, a notice said: “An exhibition of mixed media fiber art.”

What? What is Fiber Painting or Fiber Art Means?

I know about fiber arts and watch about it several times in the TV, but I never see in personal of fiber painting.

I tried to search in google about fiber art and fiber painting. I got some information about a fiber, fiber art and fiber painting.

Two type of fibers, natural and man made fibers. Most known natural fibers are:

- Linen

- Cotton

- Wool

- Silk

Fiber art is fine art which utilized fiber (either natural or man made) to form any kinds of arts.

Fiber painting is painting which using techniques of sewing, weaving, stitching, dyeing and other traditional techniques to create any style of painting.

Some examples of synthetic fibers are following:

- Spandex

- Acrylic

- Polyester

- Nylon

- Rayon

- Polyethylene

The base materials for fiber paintings could be laces, trim, threads and yard. The results like other painting, then, hanging on the wall.

I think fiber paintings are great, no different with painting as I know. They are so beautiful. Highly aesthetic values.

Like other paintings, fiber paintings have style too. They are grouped based on such as concepts, medium and techniques.

This kind of painting is getting broader audiences recently, because this art form are:

- Easy to understand

- Using familiar stuffs

- Techniques are moderate, not difficult
