However, NYMEX was opened in 1872 for commodities trade only, the stocks included:

- copper

- platinum

- gold

- silver

The negative price happened when sellers can not find the buyers for future contract, usually near term contract.

Fig 02- Early morning, illustration only

The oil future price should be higher than today price (the spot price). In fact, the price is often higher in the short and long terms.

Fig 03- A Pom Pom flower, illustration

Near term contract refer to price contract in days, weeks or a month, not in years (long term).

It is a sign of bad economy in which negative price “could be” meaning there is no demands, thus less industry activities (productions).

Then, lead to unemployment, and then hurt economic. On and on.

A Domestic Bunny as a Pet at Home – Critter 26

Wednesday, December 28, 2022

I saw rabbits wandering around in the neighborhood many times. They seem anxious at outside if they are staying in the long time or more than a day.

Fig 01- A wandering rabbit at outside

I don’t know how many neighbors have bunny as their pets. In term of space, we need “a huge place” or at least “appropriate space” to let rabbits moving around.

As reported by Saveafluff (2022) that wild rabbits need to run about 4.8 km (3 miles) per day.

Comparatively, as pets, rabbits should spend around 3 hours. Sure, the owner should find secure outdoor for their pets to run around, interact with others, and stretch their little legs.

Fig 02- A little bunny at neighborhood

Fig 03- A bunny at outdoor

What does secure outdoor means for domestic rabbits? At least, the places have these 3 characteristics:

- places which have shades from hot sun.

- predators free

- rabbits can’t escape from owners

Do your familiar with domestic rabbits or wild ones?

In some places, Dandelion is an edible plant, and good for salad. However, I really do not know whether Americans consume this plant or not now days.

In addition to source of nutrients, Dandelion contain antioxidants. The plant is used commonly as traditional medicines for:

- liver infections

- rheumatism

- constipation

Cat’s Ear Dandelion was well known by the first settlers in North America as a traditional (herbal) remedy to treat:

- a diuretic for kidney problems

- gallstones

- and treating urinary infection

Do you recognize this kind of flower in the nature?

Are Red Silkies a Rare Breed Chicken? - Critter 25

Friday, December 23, 2022

We talked about a Jersey Giant variation of roosters at the previous posting:

- Jersey Giant Roosters Look Like Hens – Critter 19 | Tanza Erlambang Update

Fig 01- A little red silkie chicken

Recently, I saw a little critter when I was jogging on the way to the one of our neighborhood lakes.

The critter is a kind of new variation of chickens. Its physical shape is quite strange for me, and the first time to see it.

By searching through internet, I believe that it is a red silkie chicken. One of a rare variation.

Fig 02- The Hibiscus flower, blooming

Marco Polo reported this chicken for the first time when he traveled to Asia continent around 13th century.

Fig 03- A Jersey giant breed, just for comparison.

Many people believe that the red silkie chicken highly probably originated from these countries:

- China

- Japan

- India

Some people said this chicken is a good pet, since they are friendly and unique.

Have you seen this variation of chicken in your place?

Hay Stacks in the Small Farmer Market – Part 2

Thursday, December 22, 2022

You may read previous part (Part 1):

- Hay Stacks in the Small Farmer Market – Part 1 | Tanza Erlambang

Fig 01- Sold in-front of the farmer market

I saw in the small farmer market not in great number of hay stacks, may be not sold for farmers or ranchers, but for individuals for decoration purposes only during any special days.

Another reason that hay sold in the “small amount” for who feed their pets such as:

- rabbit

- deer

- other “small size” pets

Fig 02- Frosty grass on the yard, illustration

Fig 03- Lighter hay, I think

In the market, I found square hay only, no round bales. The size might be 40 pounds (20 kg), not that big and heavy.

It is might be due to storage capacity of market or no storage at all.

But, I just get new knowledge that other function of hay stacks is for erosion control or for landscaping called as a straw hay.

A Small Vendor for Christmas Gifts – Sign 26

Monday, December 19, 2022

Small vendors start selling or offering services relate to Christmas celebration several weeks before January, every year in our city.

Fig 01- Sign of D’s Wreath Designs

Customers search “specific” items, hence small vendors will provide the market demands.

I think, these four items are favorite for Christmas celebration:

- Christmas tree

- Christmas light

- Wreath decorations

- and Christmas crackers

Fig 02- Several wreaths, hang on

Fig 03- Middle size wreaths

Fig 04- Plenty wreath on display

In addition to above four items, we saw some vendors sell “gift cards” as well, it locates at around our neighborhood.

We found one vendor called as “D’s Wreath Design” both sell wreaths and provide services for wreath designs. A design service could take several days, depend on “difficulty” of designs. Sure, with affordable prices.

What items do you buy for Christmas celebration?

Fresh Mango in the US Market – Part 2 - Food Variety 25

Saturday, December 17, 2022

You may read previous post (Part 1):

- Fresh Mango in the US Market – Part 1 - Food Variety 25 | Tanza

Fig 01- Yellow mango’s meat

Actually, America produces mangoes as well as other tropical countries, but very limited, hence not enough for domestic consumption.

They are grown in the “warmer” temperature states such as:

- California

- Hawaii

- Florida

- and Puerto Rico.

Fig 02- Mangoes are ready to consume

Florida developed many kinds (varieties) of mangoes, some of the well-known “inventors” are Haden, Keitt, Kent, Tommy Atkins, Valencia Pride and Glenn.

Fig 03- Mangoes and apples are sold in many Walmart groceries

These breeding are parts of more than 500 exist varieties of mangoes in the world. I believe that you know and probably just taste few of these varieties.

One of varieties called as “Tommy Atkins” planted commercially in South American countries include Mexico, Peru and Ecuador.

These countries export back to USA in great amount. We can see easily in many groceries across USA. If you never consumed mangoes, just try its!
